Step 1: Prepwork

Before you can begin creating your course homepage, you'll need to take care of a little bit of prep work. Don't panic, this isn't difficult, and it will make your life much easier later.

STEP 1: Prepare your Templates

Your PBworks workspace comes pre-loaded with content in basic templates. We will focus primarily on using the Assignments template. However, you can use these same steps to create any page into a template.

  • Select the Assignments page in your Navigator

  • Once your Assignments page is open, click the Add Tags link on the right side of your page.

  • Enter the word template to turn the Assignments page into a template that we will use to create our course page(s) and click OK. Be sure to use a lowercase "t" for template.

  • All done!!

STEP 2: Request to Upgrade Free Workspace Wiki

Your Free PBworks workspace is the same as the upgraded version, but with a few major differences. The benefits of upgrading a workspace are mostly directed at teachers. Using the workspace, from a student perspective, typically does not change much because of an upgrade.  Additional information about the new features and benefits of the upgrade can be found in the Classroom Edition page of the PBworks Educational Edition Manual
